Networking doesn't want to work. It's a Realtek RTL8111/8168B network card which is picked up as eth0 but I cannot ping the rest of the network and cannot ping this box from the LAN either. When I set it as DHCP I do NOT get an IP address. When I set it static I get "destination host unreachable". I checked the firewall traffic log whilst having a constant ping and there is nothing there. It seems it's not the firewall thats prompting the guest user to return destination net unreachable when pinging corp VLANs. Destination host unreachable indicates that the system has no route to the desired destination, or a remote router reports that it has no route to the destination.

If the message is simply “Destination Host Unreachable“, then there is no route from the local system, and the packets to be sent were never put on the wire. Use the route utility to check the local routing table. You may get Destination Host Unreachable message even if you ping to a host in PC A can ping PC B. When I turn off PC B, PC A gets mixture of destination host unreachable and request timed out. Destination host unreachable is generated by 3750X which is a default gateway of PC A. Here is a question. If I get only destination host unreachable or only request timed out, then it make sense. But I get mixture of those. If pinging a FQDN which resolves to an ip (a.a.a.a), why then would the ping results show a different reply ip address (b.b.b.b) with "destination net unreachable"? This also happens when I try pinging the resolved ip (a.a.a.a) directly, it replies from the ip (b.b.b.b) address with result "destination net unreachable"..
